Solamon Ibe, MARS Outreach Worker:

Solamon is working on outreach and education to young
men and women through presentation of the Male Advocates
for Responsible Sexuality, or MARS, curriculum at local schools
and community organizations. MARS works to support young
men in taking a responsible role in promoting equality and
cooperation in relationships, pregnancy and infection
prevention, and overcoming stereotypical gender roles.
MARS is being adapted and designed to promote sexual
responsibility among African American males ages 13 to 25
in Multnomah County. Recognizing that peers are highly
influential during the adolescent years, MARS uses a
per-to-peer approach. Solamon also works with the
African American AIDS Action Awareness Alliance (A6)
and helps at various program activities and community
events.
